Google housecleaning

A quick Google search for the keyword “housecleaning” turns up hundreds of results: some from local maid services, and others from national chains. With so many options available, how do you know which one to choose? Here are four things to consider before making a decision:

1) Reputation. A quick search on Angie’s List, Yelp, the Better Business Bureau or even Google itself should be enough to sway you one way or the other. A company with a lot of negative reviews and few positive ones is a housecleaning service that you should steer clear of. However, keep in mind that plenty of companies will have a few negative reviews, since it’s practically impossible to please everyone all of the time.

2) Customer Service. A good, quality cleaning service that offers excellent customer service might cost you a bit more, but you’ll be glad that you decided to pay extra. Look for maid services that offer a guarantee, in case things go wrong, and those that are up front with you when you ask questions about how well their cleaners are trained. Companies that shy away from straightforward answers are usually hiding something – and that’s not good.

3) Insurance. If a cleaner happens to break something while they’re in the process of cleaning your house, you need to know that you’ll be reimbursed for the cost of that item. Every good company has insurance in place to cover issues like these, and in some locations, it’s a state or city requirement. Be sure to ask before choosing a housecleaning service and steer clear of companies that have no idea what you’re talking about.

4) Referrals. Don’t just trust the reviews on the internet. If you’re dealing with a local company, ask around and see what their reputation in the community is like. Have any of your neighbors used them? If so, was their experience pleasant or awful? Is the company willing to allow you to contact a few of their current clients to get an honest opinion? All of these are things that should be answered before you decide once and for all which maid service to go with.
