I Hired a Cleaner for My Cleaner

Cleaner for a CleanerHiring in home cleaning services is a fantasy for most people.  Once you decide to take that step and hire home maids, your expectations are probably high, and rightfully so. If you are going to spend your hard-earned money to pay someone to care for your home, they should provide excellent service in return.

But what if your home maids are not up to par?  Should you hire a cleaner for your cleaner?  Of course not.  If you are using a professional in home cleaning service, you should contact that agency any time that you are unhappy with the service that you are receiving. After all, that agency wants you to be happy so that you will stay with them and recommend them to other potential clients.  If you are unhappy, the in home cleaning service will have no problem sending a different housekeeper to care for your house.

If you have hired a private individual, they should have made excellent service a priority, as well.  If they are not meeting your needs, try these tips to help resolve the problem:

  • Discuss specific items that you would like done differently.  For example, tell the housekeeper that you want her to move the trash cans when she sweeps the floors to remove the debris that collects behind them.
  • If it’s an issue that isn’t directly related to cleaning, try to approach it diplomatically.  Remember, it’s your home and you are paying for this service.  If you don’t want your housekeeper to turn on the television while cleaning, you have every right to say so.
  • If after addressing the problem issues, you don’t see improvement, you are perfectly entitled to fire your housekeeper, and you don’t need to feel guilty about it.  You shouldn’t have to clean up after the person you are actually paying to clean up.
